HOWTO: Make a disc image from a VIDEO_TS folder for free

This tip is widely shown on the interweb but I thought I’d post it too for some reference. Thanks to AppleFritter for this tip.
Once you have your VIDEO_TS folder (from a personally owned DVD, not copyrighted materials*) make sure its somewhere handy (in say ~/MOVIE_NAME/VIDEO_TS). Then fire up the Terminal from Applications>Utilities and type the following magic command:
hdiutil makehybrid -o MOVIE_NAME ~/MOVIE_NAME/ -udf
Then sit and wait. A .iso file will slowly be created in your home folder with the movie name as its title. It will take a while depending on the size of the VIDEO_TS folder.
REMEMBER: You must have enough free space to fit a file the same size as the VIDEO_TS folder plus some spare. So don’t go making a .iso of a 8Gb folder when you only have 3Gb free!
And thats it. Now you can test that ISO by mounting it, then you can open up DVD Player, or burn that out to a disc with DisK Utility or Burn

I Want to work at an Apple Store!!

Yes its true. I feel the mothership calling me. But the big questions is…what does working at the Apple Store pay? I’m trying to get a rough idea cos I don’t wanna go for a job to find out it won’t pay the bills.
So can anyone help, or give a rough idea? What is the salary of an Apple Store Employee? Don’t even want a full figure, just an idea. What is the lowest salary they pay? HELP PLEASE!

Clean House!

Well tonight I’ve spent a few hours trying to make things a bit neater at home.
We’ve been in this house for about a month now and its getting closer and closer to being straight. We still need a bed frame, and to get rid of some large boxes (waiting to offload them to someone at work actually).
Today I’ve sorted the under stairs cupboard, discovered the shoe rack we have won’t fit, and thrown various things away. Now I’m stuck on CD spindle cases. Do I throw them out or hold into them incase I come up with some ingenious use? Probably throw but not just yet.
Well thats about all for tonight really. Its too late to carry on much more. Sleep is calling me
